The Waste Engineering Section of the ELD is responsibe for KJO's waste management strategy:
Waste Engineering Section
Wastewater Unit
- Consult on the design and performance of industrial and sanitary wastewater systems.
- Review the designs submitted by contractors for new wastewater treatment plants.
- Research and Consult on special issues relating to wastewater treatment.
- Participate in the environmental regulations especially related to wastewater.
- Prepare PME wastewater discharge reports.
- Participate in Environmental Impact Assessments of new facilities or major modifications.
- Participate in environmental performance assessment of operating facilities.
- Participate in Environmental Audits.
Solid Waste Unit
- Consult on waste design and waste management issues.
- Advise on the handling, treatment, and disposal of solid, liquid, hazardous and toxic wastes.
- Reviews engineering design packages including land use documents.
- Performs waste minimization assessments.
- Participate in Environmental Impact Assessments of new facilities or major modifications.
- Participate in environmental performance assessment of operating facilities.
- Evaluates and pre-qualified waste management contractors, and monitors both company and contract waste management facilities.
Environmental Lab Unit
- Conduct routine lab analysis for waste water, solid wastes and hazardous as wastes per government requirements.
- Provide lab support to ensure that waste water and waste management facilities are in good operational condition and in compliance with government regulation.
- Provide Lab Support for Special studies on environmental field.
