Medical Services

History of KJO Hospital

Medical services in Al Khafji city have existed since 1960 when Arabian Oil Company opened a medical clinic to provide services to company employees, their families and the citizens of Al Khafji. Due to the increase in employee numbers and the population of the city, AOC Company opened two medical facilities, a 65 bed hospital for medical and surgical inpatients and an outpatient clinic including General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Dermatology, ENT, Ophthalmology and Dental services in addition to a laboratory, pharmacy and Support Services. During the first Gulf War, the hospital was destroyed and it was replaced by a temporary facility until the current hospital was built. Construction for the present hospital commenced in 1997 and the hospital, provided with advanced medical and diagnostic equipment, was inaugurated on 14 February 1998. It now contains 4 operating rooms, inpatient, ICU and Neonatal units and outpatient clinics including: Cardiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Urology, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Internal Medicine, General and Orthopaedic Surgery, Dental, ENT, Ophthalmology and Physiotherapy. There are also specialty clinics for Women's Health, Diabetes and Smoking Cessation. The facility has a fully operational Emergency Medicine Department and in 2008 a new Primary Health Care Centre with helipad was opened. The hospital is now part of Al Khafji Joint Operations representing AGOC and KGOC and has been managedby Dallah Healthcare Co. since April 2011.
