AL Khafji Joint Operations (KJO) hosted and organized the Artificial Lift Technical Exchange Meeting (ALTEM). The activity included two days of Technical Exchange convention that was held in the Gulf Hotel at the Kingdom of Bahrain on March 10th & 11th , 2009. During the event days, there were 26 technical presentations, 14 companies, and 213 professionals who showed their knowledge and technical experience.
 
The exchange meeting was a great opportunity for engineers, experts, and operations personnel to discuss common problems, solutions and innovations, best practices, and lessons learned related to Artificial Lift. The objective of organizing such technical event is focused, in particular, to enhance the cooperation and knowledge-sharing between KJO and its sister companies at Saudi Arabia and Kuwait thru learning from each other experiences.

On behalf of the organizing committee of the Artificial Lift Technical Exchange Meeting (ALTEM), I would like to express the deep thanks and appreciation to the keynote speakers, presenters, and delegates who attended the event and provided tremendous support and valuable contributions. Their contributions were the major factor toward the success of the event. Indeed, Al-Khafji Joint Operations was honored to have the opportunity to host this year’s Artificial Lift Technical Exchange Meeting. I am extremely grateful to the executive management of AL-KHAFJI JOINT OPERATIONS(KJO) and to the Management of the participating regional oil companies and services companies for their full support and encouragement that was provided to the organizing committee in conducting such a distinguished technical event. Special thanks and appreciations should also go to everyone who supports and makes favorable conditions for the organization of this exchange meeting. Based on the received feedbacks from the attendees, the ALTEM was very successful event and it met the expectations of most of the attendees. Hence, the main aim of this technical exchange meeting was successfully fulfilled.

KJO has presented four presentations at this exchange meeting and highlighted the KJO achievements in enhancing and optimizing the KJO production capabilities using the artificial lift techniques. Therefore, we were more than happy to share the lessons learned from our activities with other professionals from sister companies and we have learned a lot from their experiences as well.
The above targets were successfully fulfilled and the exchange meeting brought a lot of benefits to our organizations, especially to Operations staff in general and to Petroleum Engineers in particular. This Exchange Meeting was of great importance because it created good opportunities for Engineers, scientists, and experts to communicate, exchange experiences, upgrade their expertise, and strengthen the collaboration among them.

Once again, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Organizing Committee and to the participating companies, without which this exchange meeting will not come into existence.
